Fr. Stanton’s death certificate states that he was born in 1865. There is an odd set of records, which may not be Fr. Stanton, but the 1900 census list a Rev. John Stanton, born in Indiana, as a patient in the Alexis Brothers Hospital in St. Louis. This would have been one year after his ordination.
He is listed in the 1920 Census as the pastor of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Vincennes. However, it shows his place of birth as “Ireland”. However, his birth certificate says he was born in Richmond, Indiana.
